About

Advantage Door Services have extensive industry knowledge and experience in providing local and nationwide planned and reactive maintenance to a diverse clientele.

We were originally an Auckland based company and have been trading since 1994. We continue now with the same staff and management and are now owned by another serviced based engineering company Vestner NZ, this giving us considerable more resourses throughout the country as and when we need. We are foremost engineers who specialise in the delivery of quality, cost effective service. This is backed up with our robust management structure, help desk and office systems.

We aim to achieve a high level of flexibility in accommodating client specific requirements from providing equipment schedules, service delivery, through to job and asset condition reporting.

We provide service to all types of mechanical and electrical commercial doors, operating hardware and controls including:

  • Automatic doors
  • Revolving doors
  • All hydraulic closer operated swing doors
  • Roller grilles and shutters
  • Sliding and swing gates
  • Access control and electric locking
  • Fire doors
  • Compliance reporting
  • Security solutions

The company is managed by Johan Grotius (General Manager) with the day to day running of jobs and technical support coming from Al Godfrey (Operations Manager) and our Help Desk team ensuring service delivery. We have a team of client focused technicians, having both electrical and mechanical engineering backgrounds. All site staff have been time served and qualified tradesmen before being employed by us.

All data is stored in our well proven and what we are told as “industry leading” database. Jobs are logged, status recorded, returning data is entered and invoicing generated. Reports to suit varying client requirements on their assets are easily produced and compatible for client online access.

Advantage Door Services invest heavily in the training of our service team. Our on site staff have strong backgrounds in both mechanical and electrical engineering. In addition to this, four of our team are registered electricians, others are registered service technicians or are currently attending courses towards this. With the Electrical Safety Regulations 2010 and AS/NZ3000 that came into effect, the standard for electrical safety has been lifted. Contrary to the belief of some, it is no longer acceptable for non registered technicians to work on automatic doors. Further, we continually up-skilled our team using our dedicated in-house training facility, this is fitted out with an array of door operators and control gear.

To back up our 'on the road' service technicians and to supply parts no longer available, we have a substantial, fully equipped workshop including lathe, mill, drill press, welders, electrical test bench and parts store. Our Workshop Engineer, when not making up a part for a particular job, rebuilds stock items to allow like for like replacement of parts and allowing us to extend the life span of many installations when it is economic to do so. We also maintain an extensive range of functional obsolete control equipment which we use in emergencies to maintain security.

Advantage Door Services have been registered as an IQP company since 1994 and are registered with all Territorial Authorities Nationwide. We do not depend on any contractors anywhere for the provision of 12A reports.

Advantage Door Services office and help desk is open during business hours. We are available 24hrs on the same phone number via our answer service, normal response being under five minutes for a senior technician to respond and arrange attendance if requested. This is an escalating system with our After Hours Call Centre, to ensure a guaranteed response to all calls.

When visiting site, all staff are well presented, wear Advantage Door Service's uniforms with photo I.D. and drive sign written, company-owned service vehicles.

All Advantage Door Service's parts and labour is guaranteed against faulty workmanship or parts failure. Regular audits on performance/ quality of work are monitored for our own staff and as well as out of Auckland contractors. We further maintain an internal company performance report to ensure all our KPIs are monitored and met.

Advantage Door Services has a robust Health and Safety system, including a full induction manual, regular meetings, and audit process; this is further externally audited annually. Client-specific HSSE data is entered into each property data file and automatically included on all “Job Sheets” generated from our database. Having a great regularly audited Health and Safety system in place is just part of having a great business. We are a proud accredited member of ISNetworld, Impac Prequal, Site wise and Site Safe and we are actively updating and completing prequalification requirements with the above networks to ensure that we meet all the necessary health and safety standards and maintain our certification.

Advantage Door Services is a Police vetted and Ministry of Justice registered Company. All site staff are police vetted to keep their individual security technicians licences current.

Advantage Door Services has the freedom to use and recommend equipment solely on its suitability and quality. Supply of parts for all brands of product is assured, as we are not aligned with or agent to any one manufacturer or supplier. This independence means we do not have commitments to meet product sales targets for new equipment and we will commit to maximize your equipment's life span regardless of who it was manufactured by. We also hold a substantial range of obselete parts for most leading models of operators.

Advantage Door Services carry a minimum Public Liability cover of twenty million dollars, as well as two million Professional Indemnity cover.
